The Cherry Orchard
1384 — Actor
"The Cherry Orchard" is a staging of Anton Chekhov's play, directed by Payam Azizi, performed in 2005 at the 8th International University Theater Festival of Iran. The performance took place at Molavi Main Hall.
The play, which is Chekhov's last work, tells the story of an aristocratic Russian family on the verge of losing their beautiful cherry orchard and depicts their futile efforts to maintain their former dignity and status. The director, remaining faithful to Chekhov's original text, brought to the stage the bitter atmosphere and the sense of futility that pervades the characters. Baha Morshedi performed in the role of Lopakhin, the wealthy merchant who buys the cherry orchard.
